Brewing Tea

Green clouds spiral and twine, are drawn into the wind in a long stream;

On my cup’s surface the faces of white foam-flowers are cool.

The mountain moon comes into my window; plum-tree shadows move;

Pouring again and again into my unglazed cup I sip the lingering fragrance.

Sitting in Meditation

My mountain dwelling is dark all day in the rain

While plums are half yellow-ripe, half still green.

One bench in a lonely room — Always I’m in samadhi,

Forbidden to watch the flowers and birds come to my garden.
